The aims of LEARN THE NEWS are to promote general knowledge, spark an interest in current affairs and to encourage reading.

 

It’s a weekly e-mail newspaper that presents world news in language primary school children and other readers can easily read and understand. Each story comes with a glossary to explain difficult words and a worksheet – and quizzes.

 

Teachers use it to supplement their curriculums, to add value to English, Geography, History and reading lessons. It is particularly useful to teachers who are teaching English to second-language speakers.

From feedback received we have seen that it  has also been used extensively as a resource for home schoolers. The newspaper is divided into sections - World News, Africa news, Asia and Australasia , Environmental news., Business news and lastly a sport article. There is also a day in history page for children to reflect on the past.
